HUMAN CREATIVITY: SCIENCE AND ART

In NCLC 103, we consider human creativity by exploring the essential role creativity plays in both the sciences and the arts and to pay attention to the ways in which the creative work of scientist and artists helps us better understand the impact humans have had on Earth’s natural systems and life forms that depend on those systems.

I really like how on our first day of class, we had a long discussion about what we thought creativity meant. For me it was the ability to create something from previous knowledge and also the spontaneousness that came from creating something. Everyone one had their own way of saying this and it was really interesting to see others opinions on it.

I was really excited about being able to sketch for our creative journals. I would have loved it if we had more assignments like creative journal 3, where we had to draw something that we saw in our environment and then draw it in an abstract way. I was a bit disappointed when we stopped doing that and that it become a journal where it was mainly writing one page, with a single sketch of something that was already there and stated in our paper.

Another thing that I wish was that we had more time to do our Visions of Nature and DESIGN projects. It feels like there isn’t enough time, especially when we have NCLC 203 going on at the same time.
