NCLC 203
I believe that NCLC 203 is probably my favorite class that I’ve had this year. We have the privilege to work with Volunteer Fairfax and the opportunity to help out a community.
Reasons why are:
- The relations with our class are stronger and grow with each class
- Our professor is really good at giving us ideas, but at the same time letting us figure thing out on our own.
- Most of the class members are the type of people who are assertive when it comes to class projects, which means that we can get things done when we push ourselves
- I found a really great article that can definitely help our class and it helped me to find a solid footing for picking the question that our class chose.
I really think that this project is a real eye-opener in the sense that it takes us out into the real world and lets us experience how things work outside of the classroom. There are so many factors that we had to take into account, such as:
- who the nonprofits that are members with VF
- What methods are already being used by nonprofits
- Types of volunteers and how nonprofits use them
- coming up with questions
- Deciding out of the three main questions, which one seemed best and at the same time which one would be more plausible to finish in our allotted time of only a semester.
- what types of articles we need to look up and which one we don’t have enough information on.
I’m really excited about seeing the results of our project and I, and the majority of the class, hope that we can provide VF with the information that they were looking for.
